A candidate needs to take up the two-day CSM course from a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST) to help understand the CSM exam format, after which the candidate must clear the online CSM exam.
This two-day training course can make you ready for the CSM exam format with some efforts put in by you in the form of dedicated self-study.
The CSM exam format contains 50 multiple-choice questions, and to clear the certified scrum master exam, you must write 37 or more correct answers within the 60 minute time interval.
The CSM exam format is such that it takes about an hour to complete.
You are eligible for breaks in between, and the ability to pause and restart the test as many times as need be.
The CSM exam format enables you to skip questions or bookmark them to review them later. The go back option is always present throughout the test.
You can review your bookmarked questions at the end of your test and submit your answers after a thorough evaluation.
After clicking the submit button, a warning message appears provided if you haven't answered all the questions.
Your score immediately pops up on your computer screen after submitting the exam. The passing score as per the CSM exam format is 74%.
You would receive an email containing the login credentials from Scrum Alliance within five days of enrolling in the course.
You can conveniently log in to the Scrum Alliance website and finish a free, non-graded online evaluation.
After submitting this online evaluation and agreeing to the terms and conditions, you can download and take a printout of your certificate straight from the Scrum Alliance website.
You will then have to complete your Scrum Alliance membership profile after signing the license agreement.
• In case you cannot pass the CSM exam in your first attempt, you can retake it anytime within 60 days following your CSM course.
• The CSM exam format lets you retake the exam immediately if you prefer.
• If the exam is not cleared in the second attempt, the CSM exam format requires you to pay an exam fee of $25 to the Scrum Alliance for each additional attempt.
It is advised that it is better to re-enrol in the CSM course in case you have failed thrice to clear the exam.
