Exam Blueprint
There are 120 questions in the exam and all are objective types. 20 questions are pretest questions that will not be included for the results. This means 100 questions and 100 marks is the examination. But you will not know which are the pretest questions and hence need to give equal importance to all questions. The questions are distributed in the following topics as given below with the number of questions expected in each section.
Apply for the exam after you complete the training. You can upload the course completion certificate offered by the training institute at the time of filling the online application with PMI. They will approve your candidature and then you need to make payment and choose a date to give the test. You have 1 year to choose the date after your application is approved by PMI.
On the day of the test, you will have 3 hours to complete the 120 questions online. You can pause and resume the test. All the questions will be from the blueprint given above but will be situation-based. Real-time training is the best option to get you ready for the test.
There are no passing criteria defined by PMI but those who score more than 70 qualify the exam and get certified. If you fail to qualify in the first attempt you will have 2 more chances. A total of 3 chances are offered to pass the test within 1 year.
Renewal
You get certified if you pass the test and that is valid for 3 years. During this period you need to enhance your skills and acquire 60 PDUs to renew your certificate after 3 years making a payment of USD 150. Members get a concession of 90 USD.
