This is the opposite of top-down integration testing, where the test starts from the low-level to higher-level modules. This is an ideal type of integration testing performed for lower-level sub-system functionality during initial software development iterations. However, you need drivers to check the higher modules in this testing. This is, however, known to delay the main testing frameworks. 

If the software encompasses many sub-systems, then this testing may be complex. 

4. Sandwich or Hybrid Integration Testing
