It is good to complete the foundation course to appear for practitioner training. However, you can apply for both together. In that event, after completing the exam you will be offered only with a practitioner certificate.
Foundation Exam
Answer 33 questions correctly from the 60 questions given and score 55% to pass the examination.
Practitioner Exam
The same 55 is the pass percentage but this exam will contain 68 questions. A minimum of 38 correct answers must be provided to pass the exam.
There are two levels namely the PRINCE2 foundation and practitioner certification with different prerequisites.
PRINCE2 foundation course does not demand any prerequisites but just have some basic knowledge about project management.
On the other hand, to apply for the PRINCE2 practitioner course you must have completed any of the following certifications and must submit the proof.

- IPMA Level A - Certified Projects Director

Foundation Exam
It is an online examination with 60 multiple choice questions and you will be given 60 minutes to complete the test. Closed book examination and referring in any form is prohibited. You must get at least 33 correct answers to pass the examination.
Practitioner Exam
It is an open book examination with 68 MCQs and is expected to be completed in 150 minutes with a passing score of 38.
The pass percentage for getting certified both levels is 55%.
- PRINCE2 issues the exam code and is similar to the e-learning license.
- An exam voucher is valid for a month.
- Exam code is required to redeem the exam voucher.
- An exam voucher is required to book examination.
Therefore, exam code has validity till you have the PRINCE2 license and with that, you can redeem exam voucher and use the voucher to book exams.
You can choose an e-learning license to be valid for 1, 3 or 12 months.
Refund on cancellation of the e-license is not entertained and you must redeem exam voucher before exam code license expires.
- You can choose to study by attending the training or not but book the exam with which is the authorized PRINCE2 examination institute.
- Alternatively, take the exam from the accredited training organization (ATO) after completing the training.
Information Technology Infrastructure Library is the expansion of ITIL. It is an IT service management framework with global recognition. PRINCE2 and ITIL are process-based projects management framework and both are managed by PVT Ltd. Both have different scopes and there is no mandate that one must know ITIL to get PRINCE2 certification online. However, it is good to know PRINCE2 to obtain ITIL certification.
- PRINCE2 foundation exam is a closed book examination.
- PRINCE2 practitioner exam is an open book examination in which you are allowed to refer only the PRINCE2 manual.
